I can’t believe I’ve already had my first week here at ROUTEpr (nearly 2 weeks now!) and it’s gone so quickly. Even from my first day, I got stuck in with the latest tasks at hand.
My first taste of the ROUTEpr life was a meeting at the BIC to confirm the venue of the upcoming finals of the 2017 BTAs. For someone who hasn’t had experience in events, just understanding the overview of where the BTAs will be held and the planning involved ahead was a fascinating step into the world of PR and events.
The next morning I began my first day working as a Junior Account Executive at ROUTEpr. One thing about ROUTEpr is that not every day is the same, and I can tell you, not even every hour of that day is the same! I was tasked with many different jobs from organising the categories involved in the BTAs for the upcoming judging day, to getting in touch with key people in and around Bournemouth for their invitations to client events. One event in particular was the VIP launch of Dacombes of Wimborne’s new flagship store. I helped create awareness of the event by finding relevant publications, some of which posted the press release online and in magazines, as well as contacting local professionals in the area who we thought would love to get involved. We also assisted with the launch events at the new store with the Mayor of Wimborne and Harry Redknapp!
My role has so far involved writing and editing press releases, reviews, researching for upcoming events and this first blog! I am enjoying developing my skills in the latest PR and events projects, and even pitching my ideas for new PR campaigns and potential clients.
An exciting new project for ROUTEpr is the planning, promotion and coordinating of Taste of the South, a brand new 3 day festival celebrating local food, drink, art and culture in the South of England that will be held at Poole Park in May, as well as being involved with PR support for the Mayor of Poole’s prestigious Maritime Ball in May. I have been writing sponsorship and exhibitor packs and getting in touch with potential businesses who might be interested in taking part.
I’m looking forward to the next few weeks and months ahead which I’m sure will be just as busy, but I can’t wait to learn more.
