Jackie and the Mayor walk on FIRE!

Join Jackie Phillipson from ROUTEpr and the Mayor of Bournemouth for an alternative Burns Night as they walk on fire!

Yes that’s right Jackie Phillipson has bitten the bullet and joined the Mayor to fire walk this Burns Night for local charities: The Bournemouth Parks Foundation, The Royal Bournemouth & Christchurch Hospitals’ NHS Foundation Trust Charitable Fund, The Stable Family Home Trust, and St John & Red Cross Defence Medical Welfare Service.

Jackie and the Mayor of Bournemouth are also on the lookout for others who want to take on the challenge and find their inner ‘adrenaline junkie’ and walk 20 feet over 670C degree coals? On 27th January 2017 the Mayor of Bournemouth will be hosting a charity Fire Walk raising funds for four local Charities.

It will be a chance to have one of the most thrilling and exciting evenings of your life! The Mayor himself will also be taking the plunge and participating in crossing the trail of fire.

The bold and brave Fire Walkers will have two hours of ‘learn or burn training’ (don’t worry it’s just a name!) which will give them all the skills they need to complete the challenge. When the dare devils are all fired up and ready to go, the walk will be held at 6:30pm The Cumberland Hotel, Bournemouth.

You will fight fire with fire and come away with a tremendous sense of achievement, and a positivity that you can apply to all aspects of life. During this training time supporters can have supper, listen to live music and be ready to cheer you on. All Fire Walkers will receive a Certificate of Achievement on completion of their walk. Sponsors of this exhilarating event include Bournemouth Vision Centre of Southbourne, Wilton Funeral Services and Just Shutters.

Said Mayor of Bournemouth Cllr Eddie Coope, “Come and join me – as individuals or as a Corporate Team – for a night of adventure!  Meet new friends and help raise money for four local Charities.”

If you can’t spare the time to walk on burning coals you can sponsor Jackie who is supporting the Mayors local causes here:

If you want to walk on fire register now on or call the Mayor’s PA on 01202-451117 or e-mail: The non-refundable Registration Fee is £30 per person and payment is required at time of registration.

Jackie says, “If you want to join us on Burns Night to cheer us all on, you are welcome to join us at the Cumberland Hotel, Bournemouth.”
