In my first two weeks at ROUTEpr I have already learnt so much. The launch of the British Beach Sports Festival at the Customs House in Poole was my first experience of how the company works. I met many local business professionals, the Mayor of Poole, key people from Poole Tourism and got a chance to see how Jackie and Richard work as a team and engage with customers and others.
The event was a great success and the Mayor of Poole has truly showed her support of the upcoming festival at Canford Cliffs beach. It is great to be involved and see an increase in events like these around the area to promote Bournemouth and Poole, not to mention increase the tourism numbers and opportunity to the South Coast.
A week later the next event was the first ever Bournemouth Wheels Gala Dinner, held in association with the Coastal BID. I was involved with everything from tickets to social media and PR, in the lead up to the event we were getting things ready, sorting table plans and as the event date arrived, I helped the team set up the tables, dress the room, welcome guests to the drinks reception and dinner at the Carlton Hotel and assisted The Coastal BID and the sponsors. I got to meet and work with the lovely Perry McCarthy – the original Stig from Top Gear and F1 driver. This event gave me a chance to interact with clients, sponsors and suppliers as well as to network with other interesting people.
I am currently working on several PR projects, as well as pitching for new campaigns and we are getting ready for another event, The Lester Brunt Wealth Management and Property Wealth Insurance Brokers Charity Golf Day on 24th June at Ferndown Golf Club in aid of Diverse Abilities and in August it’s the British Beach Sports Festival.
When we are not hosting and organising events we are busy in the office, there is always something to do and I have already learnt that planning is important. I have been given a variety of work to do already from sending out press releases, helping to design sponsor packs, researching potential sponsors for events, creating social media posts, and helping to organise the Bournemouth Tourism Awards which will be launched in September.
I am looking forward to the months ahead and learning more about the world of PR, marketing and events!
