ROUTEpr have been appointed by the Coastal BID and the Westbourne Business Association to handle the PR and communications for Westbourne in the run up to Christmas. Westbourne has so much to offer and is a unique destination, with independent shops, businesses, restaurants, bars. There is something for everyone and an array of award winning businesses which include the butchers, restaurants, café bars, not to mention individual shops offering something for everyone!
ROUTEpr invited the businesses to run special activities in their stores and special offers in the run up Christmas, they are also responsible for spreading some sparkle across the village and creating it into a must see destination.
The Christmas campaign has been kick-started by visiting and engaging with the businesses, helping them to come up with new creative ideas, and organising the B2B Westbourne Business Association Christmas launch event which delivered a chance to network, and the businesses showcased some of their special offers. Planned Christmas activities were unveiled as well as the schedule of events over a glass of mulled wine and winter warmers, which launched the Festive Season in the warmth of the Forge at the rear of the Libertine Bar and Restaurant.
Said Coastal BID Director and Chair of WBA, Lia Martin, “It was a successful evening with businesses, councillors and the media praising the effort put into the Christmas launch event. The WBA Board were delighted to see so many neighbouring businesses coming together to enforce Christmas in Westbourne this year. We have so many hidden gems, independent shops and eateries – perfect for finding that special gift for loved ones that you won’t find in any other shops.
Our plan is to light up Westbourne and deliver sparkle this festive season, we will have choirs, festive crafts, Santa’s grotto supported by the Westbourne Rotary club, a selfie competition, for the children and families we have the ‘Follow the star’ competition, and for the first time ever the Christmas Light Fiesta which takes place on 3rd December and will be a celebration of light and sparkle with fire eaters, stilt walkers, UV lights, glow bands and much more.”
Said Jackie Phillipson from ROUTEpr “We are proud to have been appointed to handle the PR for Christmas season. Westbourne is a unique village, with great style and many niche businesses. The Christmas activities start from 26th November. We have encouraged the businesses to make the most of the Christmas footfall and also put on special Christmas activities and offers to encourage visitors and locals as well as making the most of opportunities to entice people to return after Christmas.”
Said Cllr John Beesley, Leader of Bournemouth Borough Council, “On Wednesday evening I was delighted to attend a meeting of the rejuvenated Westbourne Traders’ Association which is really beginning to go places. The meeting was held at the Forge at the back of the Libertine in Westbourne and the atmosphere amongst the local businesses who attended was exceptionally enthusiastic.
Lia Martin and her team set out their ambitious and exciting plans for the Christmas campaign in Westbourne with a programme of events and promotions starting at the end of November. There was no doubt that all those who attended were there to take part fully in the plans and really put Westbourne on the map as the place to visit in the run up to the festive period.
Together with my Ward Councillor colleague, Nick Rose, it felt great to be a part of it all and see how a well-planned event could be made to work with all the traders present wanting to play their part to the full.”
