Join in the celebrations as Taste of the South hits the green grass of Poole Park this May. From the 19th – 21st May, visitors can enjoy FREE admission to this brand new event which features the very best of local businesses, manufacturers, as well as giving the chance for new business start-ups to showcase and launch their ideas alongside food and drink producers, arts and crafts, jewellery, artisan products and more!
The event will see exhibitors from Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset and Hampshire, even as far as West Sussex, gather in Poole for Taste of the South which is being held in association with the Poole Maritime Festival and is set to attract thousands to the picturesque seaside location.
Some of the South’s finest culinary experts will feature on stage at the Taste of the South demonstration theatre, where they will use local produce to create some amazing dishes. So far confirmed are Alex Aitken – Head Chef at The Jetty in Christchurch, Matt Budden – Schpoon and Forx at the Hilton, Pete Murt – Head chef at Rick Stein, and award winning Dorset Chefs – Mark Hartstone and Sarah Ali Choudhury.
There will be quirky food vans, from VW campers, converted horse trailers, and Land Rover coffee trucks. It’s a wholly unique experience where you will find specialised handmade products and jewellery in the artisan area made by real craftsmen- something you won’t find anywhere else!
And it doesn’t end there. There will be a variety of products available to exhibit, buy and take home with you including a range of skin care and beauty products for guests to take home a pampering treat of their own, a “wake-me-up” coffee station and, of course, some irresistible fudge creations.
The event will also feature a new-start up area where visitors can taste and trial brand-new products that are yet to hit the public eye and are offering a discount for exhibitors.
And if you’re parched for a drink (or two), we’ve got you covered with quirky refreshments zones dotted around the festival. Chill out and enjoy a glass of prosecco, or an ice cold local gin across the weekend, perched on a hay bale in the sunshine.
Fulfilling the maritime theme and as a salute to the maritime history in the area, Taste of the South will feature the ORIGINAL Sunseeker boats. These boats are famed for featuring in some of the biggest blockbusters worldwide including the great James Bond films. So why don’t you come along and delve into the History of Poole?
There will be plenty to do for children, with free seaside activities, games, and competitions and even learning about the local maritime history.
Taste of the South has something for everyone as a fun-filled, jam-packed 3-day event, and a great way to showcase the South to thousands of visitors from the local community, the UK and overseas.
We hope to see you soon at Poole Park this May!
