The Bonbon Boys, set up by Dorset-based young entrepreneurial duo Kalem Brinkworth and Joe Quinlan, was created during lockdown to serve the BH postcode area initially. With a passion for sweets and confectionery, they decided to deliver traditional Pick ‘n’ Mix to the door and sourced more than 200 kg of sweets (some 30 varieties) with vegan options and sustainable packaging. The June launch surpassed 100 orders in the first weekend, which included Father’s Day. Handcrafted boxes were delivered across Dorset, then further afield, including Cornwall and Kent.
ROUTEpr focused on the nostalgic and retro vibe of tucking into a box of good old-fashioned Pick ‘n’ Mix which complemented a simpler approach to lockdown life. News releases generated interest and ROUTEpr secured online interviews and wide-ranging regional publicity using extensive local media connections which included competitions and reviews from an array of foodie editors and bloggers.
